Playground Safety Surface

Certified Engineered WoodCarpet TM

When we are installing playground chips we use a certified product called Engineered wood Carpet. TM  This product is tested and IPEMA certified.  Ask for it by name!  Don’t be fooled by other non-certified products.

For all our playgrounds we recommend having at least 6” minimum depth of safety surface  in your play area.  This will be most helpful in fall zones.

Playground equipment installers

Ever have trouble getting to those hard to reach sites with a skid steer?  Do you need to get to the next job faster?  Have you been in a time crunch to get the safety surface installed?  Don’t have a place to dump the material so that it can get installed?

We make those type of problems go away!  We deal with many playground installers, so we know what problems can arise on your jobs.  Time is money and we save you a lot of both

 Daycare centers & Schools

Don’t get your playground shut down by licensing for not having enough material or the correct type of material in your play areas.  We recommend doing a “top off” every 12 months.  By having the correct amount of safety surface on your playgrounds helps minimize your risk of children getting hurt.

Play sets at your home

Do you have a playground at home?  Ever wonder how you can get the same material you see at your child’s schools or county parks?  We actually are the company who installs those playground chips.  Weather it is just a simple new layer of playground chips or for an entirely new playground.

Top offs’

If you are finding that your safety surface is starting to wear down and is not at the levels that it should be at, then you should top off your playground.  When a play area is topped off, additional material is added on top of your existing play surface.  Normally an average of 3”-4” top off will give you the coverage you need to provide you with the proper fall protection.  We recommend topping off your playground at least every 12 months.

Boarders

Many playgrounds have a boarder to define the play area.  These are typically a 6x6 landscape timber or a plastic boarder.  We can install either product for you and customize the layout to fit your needs.

Sand

We offer a white play sand to refill or create a new sand box for you.

 “Dig outs”

Did you know that in addition to a “top off”, you should “dig out” your existing play area every 4-7 years depending on site conditions?

After years and years of weather conditions and compaction, the safety surface material begins to decompose as all organic material will do.  When this begins to happen the safety surface loses it’s ability to absorb the fall of the children.  This leads to the greater risk of injury and increasing your liability.  This can even happen if your “topping off” your play areas.

So when should a “dig out” be done?

A dig out should be done every 4-7 years.  This will depend on your site conditions.  A “dig out” can be done during the Winter as long as there is no snow on the ground.  You should do a “dig out” if you can dig down 3 inches before a “top off” and you have soil like conditions.

What does a “dig out” do?

A dig out will remove the old decomposed safety surface to a depth 6-12 inches, depending on your set.  Then an all new fresh safety surface is installed to a depth meet licensing requirements.

Who should do a ‘Dig out”?

Anyone who has a playground surface older than 4-7 years and who want to limit the potential for a child getting hurt on their playground due to inadequate safely surface absorbency.

Why should I do a “dig out”?

You should do a “dig out” to limit the potential of children getting hurt on your playground.  A “dig out” will also help with water drainage.
